Installation
- Open the DMG file
- Drag FindDiskKiller to Applications
- Launch from Applications folder
If macOS says the app cannot be opened
All releases are Developer ID signed and Apple notarized. If Gatekeeper blocks the app:
- Make sure you downloaded from this official website.
- Ensure your Mac runs macOS 14 or later.
Do not disable Gatekeeper, use xattr -cr, or run spctl --master-disable. If a signed build fails Gatekeeper, report the issue so the release pipeline can be fixed.

The current version is available as a Developer ID signed and Apple notarized DMG that runs on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
System Requirements
- macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later
- Apple silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) or Intel processor
- Approximately 20 MB of disk space
Installation
- Open the downloaded DMG file.
- Drag FindDiskKiller into your Applications folder.
- Launch FindDiskKiller from Applications. If this is your first launch, macOS will verify the notarization.
Why does macOS say the app cannot be opened?
All releases are Developer ID signed and Apple notarized. If Gatekeeper blocks the app, check the following:
- Make sure you downloaded the DMG from this official website.
- Ensure your Mac is running macOS 14 or later.
Do not disable Gatekeeper, use xattr -cr, or run spctl --master-disable. If a signed and notarized build fails Gatekeeper, please report the issue so we can fix the release pipeline.
Permission expectations on first launch
- Basic monitoring (CPU, disk I/O, network, volumes): no special permissions required.
- File access tracing: the first time you start tracing a file or directory, macOS may prompt you to approve a signed background component.
- Protected locations (e.g., other users’ home folders): may additionally require Full Disk Access in System Settings.
