Initial release of FindDiskKiller — a native macOS tool for discovering what is causing unusual disk activity.

New

  • Real-time per-process disk I/O monitoring (reads and writes separated)
  • CPU usage per process with multi-core display
  • Network download and upload per process
  • Device-level physical throughput monitoring
  • Disk health display with SMART/NVMe attributes (temperature, wear, lifetime writes, power-on hours)
  • File activity view showing recently modified directories
  • On-demand file access tracing with per-process read/write request sizes
  • Independent detail windows for focused process investigation
  • 1-minute, 15-minute, and 1-hour line charts
  • Menu bar status display
  • 10 interface languages: English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian
  • Light and dark mode support

Known limitations

  • SMART/NVMe attribute availability depends on drive hardware and enclosure; many external USB enclosures do not pass through SMART data
  • File access tracing increases CPU usage proportionally to the I/O rate of traced files
  • FSEvents recently modified shows directory-level changes — does not identify the specific process that made the change
